In April 2004, IHM Sister–Associate Relationship was an idea—“a dream for Scranton IHM.” Today that dream has become a stream of 185 commissioned and 15 aspiring associates hailing from eight states and Peru.

Recently Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti was invited to the IHM Center for prayer, brunch, and some time of sharing.

Before Lent 2023, we decided to do a special Lenten Project—put each sister’s name on a piece of paper and place into a large basket. The idea was to draw seven names on a Sunday night, then during the week, make a friendly phone call to the sister whose name we drew.

The practice of green burial is completely consistent with the Catholic faith and its tradition of burying the dead.

The fluctuation in numbers has not affected our commitment to asylum seekers. In the name of all IHMs and Oblate Sisters of Providence, we continue to accompany our brothers and sisters waiting in Reynosa, and we also welcome migrants who arrive in McAllen.
