Meeting needs

Our Ministry

Since our founding in 1845, we continue to work collaboratively with others to respond to the needs of the times. Together, our works of service bringing the unconditional love of Christ to all we meet mirrors our own call to be a clear and prophetic witness to the love of God.

What we do

Our community life, mission, and ministry are rooted in God and are works for justice and peace, and thus call us to be creative and generous with the gifts we have received.

Since our founding in 1845, education has been an integral part of our ministry to the people of God. Today we minister in schools in North America, Latin American and online.

We embrace the call of the holy father to love our earth and care for all of creation. We offer educational materials and experiences as well as opportunities for advocacy and service to all who wish to partner with us in our works of environmental stewardship.

Since the early days of our congregational history, we have ministered in healthcare settings. Learn about our past and current healthcare ministries and how you can become involved!

Many of our sisters minister in parishes or other religious settings. They offer parish ministry, spiritual direction, retreats and congregational facilitation services to a variety of parish and religious organizations.

Our sisters minister in many areas of social service in diocesan, parish, residential and clinical settings. Our work focuses on the needs of women, children and families who find themselves struggling to live healthy, authentic lives.

Since the early days of our foundation, we have been blessed to collaborate with parishes, other religious congregations, schools and businesses in meeting the needs of the people of God. This collaborative effort allows for greater impact on a broader population in meeting the physical, spiritual and familial needs of those we serve.

We currently serve in parishes, schools and professional settings in the United States, Mexico and Peru. Explore past and present places of service and how you can support these efforts of meeting the needs of all God’s creation.

Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation

Our works of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation reflect our call as IHM Sisters to be a clear and prophetic witness to the love of God in all creation.

While some IHM Sisters minister in educational settings, others serve in ministries and settings outside of education such as administrators of non-profit organizations, social workers, health care direct support professionals and more.
