Sister M. Yvonne McHale, IHM

Sister M. Yvonne McHale, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, April 3, 1973, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on February 3, 1907 in Pittston, PA, and given the name Dorothy. She was the daughter of the late Patrick F. and Judith Kelly McHale. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1934, received the religious habit on August 2, 1934, and made profession of her vows on August 3, 1936.

A registered nurse, Sister Yvonne served the following: St Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA; St. John’s Home in Cresson, PA; and St. Michael’s Industrial School for Boys in Hoban Heights, PA.

From 1957 until the time of her death, Sister Yvonne served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine McHale; and a brother, Reverend Clement Charles, OSA.

She is survived by two sisters, Monica Brown of Williamsville, NY, and Rita Ryan of Rochester, NY; three brothers, Albert W. of Clayton, NJ, Urban M. of Rochester, NY, and Vincent of Detroit, MI; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday, April 6, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent, followed by at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Wednesday and Thursday at the Marian Convent.
