Sister M. Elizabeth O’Sullivan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, March 18, 1973, at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was born on October 29, 1910 in Brooklyn, NY, and given the name Margaret. She was the daughter of the late Denis and Elizabeth Doherty O’Sullivan. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 28, 1929, received the religious habit in September 1929, and made profession of her vows on July 31, 1931.
Sister Elizabeth served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John Elementary School in Susquehanna, PA; St. Ambrose Elementary School in Bridgeport, CT; Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Bernadine Elementary School in Baltimore, MD; and Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY. She served as superior at St. Bernadine Convent, Baltimore, MD.
From 1973 until the time of her death, Sister Elizabeth was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent in Scranton.
She is survived by brother, Frank of Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Mary Miller of Florida; nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be Tuesday, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent. Interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Monday at the Marian Convent.
