Sister M. Elizabeth O’Sullivan, IHM

October 29, 1910 – March 18, 1973

Sister M. Elizabeth O’Sullivan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, March 18, 1973, in Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.

She was born on October 29, 1910 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of the late Dennis and Elizabeth Doherty O’Sullivan. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 28, 1929 and made profession of her vows on Jul 31, 1931.

Sister Elizabeth served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John Elementary School in Susquehanna, PA; St. Ambrose Elementary School in Bridgeport, CT; Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Bernadine Elementary School in Baltimore, MD; and Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY.

From 1973 until the time of her death, Sister Elizabeth served in prayer ministry at the Marian Convent in Scranton.

She is survived by brother, Frank of Brooklyn, NY, a sister, Mary Miller of Florida, nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be Tuesday at the Marian Convent Chapel with interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call on Monday at the Marian Convent.
