Sister M. Therese Laraio, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, September 27, 1938, at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
She was born on August 21, 1907 in Utica, NY, and given the name Mary Jane. She was the daughter of Angelina Urgo Laraio, and the late Rocco Laraio. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 2, 1926, received the religious habit on December 29, 1926, and made profession of her vows on January 2, 1929.
Sister Therese served as a teacher at Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; Mother of Mercy School in Washington, NC; St. Thomas Aquinas School in Archbald, PA; St. Ann School in Scranton, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA; and St. Patrick School in Spangler, PA.
In addition to her mother, Angelina Laraio, she is also survived by a sister, Rose DelVecchio, and a brother, Paschal (Patsy), all of Saranac Lake, NY.
The funeral will be Friday, September 30 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA, with interment to follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
