Sister M. Claver McAndrew, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, April 1, 1943.
She was born on August 26, 1867 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, and given the name Maria. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Bridget Lynch McAndrew. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1888, received the religious habit on December 27, 1888, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1891.
She ejoyed her years of teaching children in IHM mission schools, including at St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William, and four sisters, Hannah, Elizabeth, Bridget Heid, and Gertrude Dunleavey.
She is survived by a brother, John of Childs, PA, a sister, Margaret of Carbondale, PA, and several nieces and nephews, including Reverend Charles Heid, of St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton, PA, and Dr. Paul C. McAndrew, medical director of the West Mountain Sanitarium, Scranton, PA.
Interment is at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, Pennsylvania.
