Sister Jane Marie Ruddy, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, January 22, 1943, at Mount St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Motherhouse in Scranton, PA.
She was born on September 24, 1894, in Scranton, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Hallinan Ruddy. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1922, received the religious habit on August 15, 1922, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1924.
Sister Janet Marie served as a domestic at St. Rita’s Convent in Dundalk, MD; and St. Thomas Convent in Archbald, PA.
Sister later served as a prayer minister at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA, and Mount St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Motherhouse in Scranton, PA.
She is survived by two brothers, James B. of Scranton, PA, and John A. of Dunmore, PA; a sister, Kathryn C. Ruddy of Scranton, PA; and three nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, January 25, at 9:30 a.m. with a mass of requiem in the chapel at Marywood College, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
