Sister M. Audrey Statelman, IHM

Sister M. Audrey Statelman, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday June 30, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.

She was born on December 20, 1912, in Brooklyn, NY, and given the name Mary Audrey. She was the daughter of the late Charles X. and Sarah McLaughlin Statelman. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1928, received the religious habit on April 1, 1929, and made profession of her vows on April 14, 1931.

Sister Audrey served as a teacher at St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA, and Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA.

In additon to her step-mother, Mary Louise “Lise” Statelman, she is also survived by four brothers, Bernard Aloysius, Charles John, Edward Charles and Jacques; two half-sisters, Josée Marie McCassin and Gloria Statelman, all of Brooklyn, NY.

The funeral will be Tuesday, July 3, at 10:15 a.m. with a solemn requiem mass at Church of the Nativity in Scranton. The celebrant will be Reverend William P. Boyd, pastor of Assumption Church, Jessup. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
