Sister M. Louise McGill, IHM

April 4, 1872 – May 6, 1951

Sister M. Louise McGill, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, May 6, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.

She was born on April 4, 1872 in Hazleton, PA, and given the name Bridget. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Cannon McGill. She entered the IHM Congregation on December 27, 1889, received the religious habit on July 20, 1890, and made profession of her vows on April 3, 1893.

Sister Louise served as a teacher at the following schools: Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA; St. Patrick Elementary School in Olyphant, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA; and St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School in Sugar Notch, PA.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and John, and two sisters, Agnes McGill and Mary McGill.

She is survived by a sister, Nellie McGill of Miners Mills, PA.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m. with a requiem Mass at St. Rose Church in Carbondale, followed by interment at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Greenfield Township, PA.
