Sister M. Anthony Padden, IHM

August 10, 1864 – August 2, 1947

Sister M. Anthony Padden, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, August 2, 1947, at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.

She was born on August 10, 1864 in Carbondale, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Tighe Padden. She entered the IHM Congregation on April 18, 1892, received the religious habit on November 22, 1892, and made profession of her vows on January 1, 1895.

Sister Anthony served as a teacher at the folllowing schools: St. Basil School in Dushore, PA; St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA; St. Patrick High School in Olyphant, PA; and St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Patrick, Anthony Jr., and Thomas, and two sisters, Margaret and Bridget Padden.

She is survived by a sister, Kathryn Padden of Carbondale, PA.

The funeral will be Tuesday, August 5, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
