Sister M. Rosarii Lynch, IHM

Sister M. Rosarii Lynch, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, August 7, 1947, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was born on February 24, 1872 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Winifred. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Winifred Finnan Lynch. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1891, received the religious habit on December 28, 1891, and made profession of her vows on December 28, 1893.
Sister Rosarii served as a teacher at the following schools: St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA; St. Cecelia Academy in Scranton, PA; St. Ann School in Scranton, PA; St. Thomas Aquinas School in Archbald, PA; and St. Basil School in Dushore, PA.
Sister served as principal at St. Cecelia Academy in Wyoming, PA. Her last assignment was at the Church of Nativity Convent.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Matthew; and five sisters, Bridget Lynch, Agnes Mahon, Mary Moran, Catherine Kelly and Elizabeth Gallagher.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Sister Agnella, Immaculate Heart of Mary, St. Ephrem’s Convent, Brooklyn, NY; Sister Mario, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Epiphany Convent; Sister Celine, Sister Eucharista and Sister Sheila, Sisters of the Humility of Mary Order in Davenport, Iowa.
The funeral will be Monday, August 11 at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Scranton, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
