Sister Donna Korba is featured in the “Scranton’s Story, Our Nation’s Story” project—an exploration of local and national identity, history, community and belonging. Featuring a panel discussion, oral history and a portrait photography exhibit, the humanities lectures all focused on the theme, “Educating for Democracy: An Integrated Scranton & U.S. Story.” The project is led by The University of Scranton together with community partners and is supported by a generous Humanities Discussions grant from The National Endowment for the Arts.

The October events premiered the project’s final phase, an oral history initiative called “Scranton Stories.” The exhibit features portraits of 33 local residents by photographer Byron Maldonado as well as personal statements and evocative interviews giving voice to an array of Scranton experiences and connecting them and our city to our nation’s ongoing story.

They gave a brief overview of the process involved in the overall oral histories project, the Scranton Stories Trailer was shown, and they engaged the audience in questions and comments.

The Oral Histories Premier and Photo Exhibit is on display at the University of Scranton, Hyland Hall 407. The exhibit runs from October 27–November 17, 2023.
