Sister Mary Thecla served as a teacher at St. Cecilia School in Exeter, PA.

The funeral will be Saturday, August 7, at 8:00 a.m. at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary, with interment to follow at the Marywood College Cemetery, on the grounds of Marywood College in Scranton, PA.

“The funeral services held over the remains of Sister M. Thecla were held in the chapel of Mount St. Mary’s seminary, this morning at 8 o’clock. Rev. P. Quinnan, of Wyoming, in whose parochial school the decased sister had taught for many years, was the celebrant of the mass. His assistants were Rev. Father Felix Ward, Rev. Father McGucken and Rev. Dr. Brennan.

The funeral sermon was preached by Rt. Rev. Monsignor Coffey, of St. Rose’s, Carbondale, who spoke in part as follow: “Death is a great mystery and it awaits us all. No matter where we are or what position we may fill death will surely find us. It has come to this young sister, who early in life felt the divine call to labor for God. About twelve years ago she joyfully made the dedication of her entire self to the service of the Lord and now has come the finish of her work. For many years she labored successfully in the schools, and when on account of failing health, this labor was no longer possible she meekly and cheerfully bowed her head to God’s will. Her work and sufferings are now over. The end has come for her as it will one day come for us, and it is the end that crowns the work.”

After the absolution was pronounced, interment was made in the Sisters’ cemetery.”
