Sister Mary Martin Boland, IHM

Sister Mary Martin Boland, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, April 30, 1897 at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA, after an acute attack of pneumonia.
She was born on April 6, 1868 in Archbald, PA, and given the name Margaret (Maggie). She was the daughter of the late Michael and Sarah Ann White Boland. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 18, 1892, received the religious habit on November 22, 1892, and made profession of her vows on January 1, 1895.
Sister Mary Martin served as a teacher at St. John the Evangelist Parochial School in Pittston, PA, from September 1, 1893 to June 26, 1894; and at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA, from January 1895 until the time of her death.
She is survived by four brothers, John, James, and Patrick, all of Archbald, PA, and Thomas of Olyphant, PA; four sisters, Mary McCarthy of Simpson, PA, Sarah Ann Boland, Catherine Walsh, and Elizabeth all of Archbald, PA; nieces and nephews.
The funeral is on Monday, May 3 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Susquehanna, followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Susquehanna.
