Sister M. Agatha Moran, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, March 30, 1897, at St. Cecilia’s Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on February 23, 1875 in Carbondale, PA, and given the name Emma. She was the daughter of Ann O’Boyle Moran and the late Thomas Moran. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 1, 1893, received the religious habit on December 28, 1893, and made profession of her vows on April 9, 1896.
Sister Agatha served an instrumental music teacher, particularly stringed instruments, at St. Cecilia Academy in Scranton, PA.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and James.
In addition to her mother, Ann Moran of Carbondale, PA, she is also survived by a brother, John J. of Denver, CO, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton, to be celebrated by Reverend D.J. MacGoldrick, of St. Thomas College, and Bishop William O’Hara. Interment will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Carbondale, PA.
