Sister Mary Kathleen Paulus, IHM

May 6, 1937 – January 8, 1982

Sister Mary Kathleen Paulus, IHM, (formerly known as Sister Catherine of Siena) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died Friday, January 8, 1982, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA. She was in the 24th year of her religious life.

Born on May 6, 1937, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Catherine Carroll Paulus and the late George J. Paulus. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1955, received the religious habit on March 12, 1956, and made profession of her vows on March 13, 1958.

Sister Mary Kathleen served as a kindergarten teacher and catechetical instructor at St. Peter’s Catechetical Center in Wellsboro, PA; Resurrection Catechetical Center in Muncy, PA; St. Patrick’s Catechetical Center in Milford, PA; and St. Paul’s Church in New Bern, NC.

Most recently, Sister Mary Kathleen served as a kindergarten teacher at St. Rose Elementary School in Carbondale, PA.

In addition to her mother, Catherine Paulus of Baltimore, MD, she is survived by several cousins, including Mrs. Ethel Hunt.

The funeral will be Monday, January 11, at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose’s Church in Carbondale. Interment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon or evening at St. Rose’s Convent, Carbondale.
