Sister M. St. Anne Quinn, IHM

July 29, 1898 – October 27, 1981

Sister M. St. Anne Quinn, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Tuesday, October 27, 1981, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on July 29, 1898 in Durham, England, and given the name Anna. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Hart Quinn. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 11, 1925, received the religious habit on August 15, 1925, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1927.

Sister St. Anne served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, MD; St. Paul Elementary School in Edgewood, RI; St. Mary Elementary School in Altoona, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Patton, PA; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; and St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA. She also taught at elementary schools located in Washington, NC, Baltimore, MD, and Pittsburgh, PA.

Sister served on the support staff of the IHM Motherhouse and IHM Generalate, both in Scranton.

From 1975 until the time of her death, Sister St. Anne was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by several cousins in New Salem, PA, and Reverend Austin Hart, (a cousin) of Middlesex, England.

The funeral will be Friday, October 30, at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Thursday afternoon or evening.
