Sister Mary Feldcamp, IHM

June 18, 1933 – February 4, 2002

Sister Mary Feldcamp, IHM, (formerly known as Sister Mary Assunta), of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, February 4, 2002 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on June 18, 1933 in Scranton, PA, and given the name Sarah. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Moriarity Feldcamp. She was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School and was active in its alumni projects. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1951, made temporary profession of her vows on April 2, 1954, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1957.

Sister Mary served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Paul School in Cranston, RI; St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1992 to 1996; as well as schools located in Brooklyn, NY; and Baltimore, MD.

Sister Mary served as principal at Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in Clark’s Green, PA, from 1981 to 1986; Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School in Inwood, NY; and at schools located in Pittsburgh, PA.

She also served as an education consultant for the IHM Congregation in Scranton, PA, from 1970 to 1978; and special services coordinator at Bishop O’Hara High School in Dunmore, PA, from 1996 to 2000.

From 2000 until the time of her death, Sister Mary served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She earned Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education, and Master of Science degree in elementary education, both from Marywood College.

She is survived by a brother, Monsignor William Feldcamp, of St. Clare’s Parish in Scranton, PA, two uncles, John Moriarity of Dalton, PA, and Joseph Moriarity of Minneapolis, MN, and several cousins.

The funeral will be Thursday, February 7 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Wednesday after 2:00 p.m.
