Sister Mary Brian Greene, IHM

Sister Mary Brian Greene, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, November 19, 1999 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on July 16, 1925, in Jessup, Pennsylvania, and given the name Marian. She was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Elizabeth M. Mullen Greene. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1943, made temporary profession of her vows on May 8, 1944, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1949.
Sister Mary Brian served as a teacher and guidance counselor at the following schools: St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore, PA, from 1959 to 1963; St. Michael’s School for Boys in Hoban Heights, PA, from 1963 to 1965; St. Thomas Regional School in Providence, RI; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY; St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School in Port Washington, NY; St. Ambrose School in Bridgeport, CT; as well as at schools located in Altoona, Lock Haven and Masontown, PA; Baltimore, MD; Brooklyn, Forest Hills and New York, NY.
From 1999 until the time of her death, Sister Mary Brian served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a Master of Arts degree in counselor education, both from Marywood College. She had been a member of the association of Catholic Secondary School Counselors of New York City.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Murphy, and two brothers, John and James.
She is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Greta) Allen of Somerset, NJ, and Elaine Todd of Sherwood, OR, three brothers, Thomas F. of Mayfield, PA, Michael J. of Falls, PA, and Robert of Carbondale, PA, nieces and nephews, and an aunt, Martha Logan of Rockville Centre, NY.
The funeral will be Wednesday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
