Sister M. Austin O’Neill, IHM

Sister M. Austin O’Neill, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, December 24, 1868, at St. Alphonsus Academy in Susquehanna Depot, PA.
She was born on September 8, 1840 in Pennsylvania, and given the name Mary. She entered the IHM Congregation in Reading, Pennsylvania in May of 1860, received the religous habit on July 13, 1860, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1861.
Sister Austin served as a teacher at St. Alphonsus Academy in Susquehanna Depot, PA, from 1860 to 1868.
Sister Austin is one of two sisters from the Immaculata based IHM Congregation that are buried in Saint John’s Cemetery in Susquehanna Depot, PA.
