Sister M. Vivian Kelly, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, March 31, 1955, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA.
She was born on January 20, 1892 in English Center, PA, and given the name Rose. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Bridget Tracy Kelly. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 24, 1919, received the religious habit on August 2, 1919, and made profession of her vows August 2, 1921.
Sister Vivian served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Cecilia Elementary School in Exeter, PA; St. Mary-John School in Cresson, PA; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Lock Haven, PA; St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Dunmore, PA; and St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Pittston, PA.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, William, John, Edward, and James, and a sister, Sadie Kelly.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Elizabeth and Kathryn Kelly, both of Norristown, PA, and a brother, Joseph of Pittsburgh, PA.
The funeral will be Monday, April 4 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittston, PA. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston. Students of St. John’s School wil report to their rooms at 9:00 a.m. and will then go to the church to attend the funeral.
