Sister M. Theron Mack, IHM

Sister M. Theron Mack, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Sunday, May 15, 1983 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania, after an illness.
She was born October 1, 1910 in Renovo, Pennsylvania, and given the name Kathryn Grace. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Theresa Kepler Mack. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 30, 1928, received the religious habit on April 1, 1929, and made profession of her vows on April 14, 1931.
Sister Theron served as a teacher at the following schools: South Catholic High School in Scranton, PA; St. Paul School in Scranton, PA; Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Scranton; St. Rose School in Carbondale; Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY; St. Paul School in Edgewood, RI; and at schools located in Manhasset, NY, and Pittsburgh, PA.
Sister Theron also served in the Marywood College Library in Scranton, PA, as a full-time cataloger, from 1970 to 1982.
From 1982 until the time of her death, Sister Theron served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marywood College, a Bachelor of Science degree in liberal studies from St. John’s University, and a Master of Arts degree from Villanova University.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William T. “Theron” and Francis J. “Jay”, and a sister, Elizabeth E. Stevenson.
She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude T. “Theresa” Eisenhardt of Merchantville, NJ, and Maxine V. Keene of New Milford, PA, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the IHM Generalate Chapel. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, Pennsylvania. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m.
