Sister M. St. Jude Holdren, IHM

Sister M. St. Jude Holdren, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Wednesday, February 28, 1973, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.

She was born on May 31, 1896 in Washingtonville, PA, and given the name Marion Alma. She was the daughter of the late George and Clara Snyder Holdren. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1924, received the religious habit on August 15, 1924, and made profession of her vows on December 28, 1925.

From 1925 until the time of her death, Sister St. Jude served at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA, as the hospital receptionist and in the hospital laundry.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Olive May.

She is survived by five brothers, Alfred and John, both of South Dakota, George, of Washingtonville, PA, and Charles and Stewart, both of Danville, PA; three sisters, Caroline St. Clair of Danville, PA, Phoebe Bogart of Milton, PA, and Erma Hagerman of Turbotville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Friday at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Convent, adjacent to the hospital in Carbondale.
