Sister M. St. Francis Lantzy, IHM

Sister M. St. Francis Lantzy, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, September 18, 1954, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on June 28, 1901 in Spangler, PA, and given the name Beatrice. She was the daughter of Cletus and Bridget A. Logan Lantzy. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1925, received the religious habit on December 28, 1925, and made profession of her vows on December 28, 1927.
Sister St. Francis served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA; St. Mary School in Upper Marlboro, MD; and St. Mary School in Patton, PA.
Sister served as principal and superior at Holy Angels School in Hays, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA, for the past several years.
She also served on the support staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA, and St. Joseph’s Children’s and Maternity Hospital in Scranton, PA.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ellizabeth Louise Lantzy and Margaretta Kirsch.
In addition to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Lantzy of Latrobe, PA, she is also survived by six brothers, M/Sgt. Norman Lantzy of Camp Dix, N.J., M/Sgt. Lester Lantzy, with the Army in Germany, Kenneth of New Castle, PA, and Donald, Joseph, and Duane, all of Latrobe, PA; a sister, Kathleen (Dolly) Lantzy of Lathrobe, PA; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call on Sunday afternoon at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
