Sister M. Servula Healy, IHM

August 9, 1895 – April 25, 1940

Sister M. Servula Healy, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, April 25, 1940, at St. Ann’s Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on August 9, 1895 in Altoona, PA, and given the name Catherine Agnes. She was the daughter of John Healy and the late Julia Creed Healy. She entered the IHM Congregation on January 6, 1920, received the religious habit on August 2, 1920, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1922.

Sister Servula served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Leo Elementary School in Ashley, PA; St. Mary of the Assumption Elementary School in Upper Marlboro, MD; St. Monica Elementary School in Raleigh, NC; and St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA.

Sister served as principal and superior at St. Joseph Elementary School in New Bern, NC.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Joseph.

In addition to her father, John of Altoona, PA, Sister Servula is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Healy of Dunmore, PA, and Mary Healy of Pittsburgh, PA, and a brother, John Jr., of Altoona, PA.

The funeral will be Monday, April 29 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA, followed by interment is St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
