Sister M. Noreen Falvey, IHM
June 6, 1904 – July 8, 1979

Sister M. Noreen Falvey, IHM, of the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Sunday, July 8, 1979, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on June 6, 1904 in New York, NY, and given the name Mary J. She was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Nora Keefe Falvey. She entered the IHM Congregation on March 24, 1926, received the religious habit on August 15, 1926, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1928.
As a teacher at the intermediate level, Sister Noreen served on the faculty of the following schools: Holy Rosary Elementary School in Scranton, PA; Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School in Inwood, NY; St. Ann Elementary School in Nyack, NY; and Mount Holly Regional School in Mt. Holly, NJ. She also taught at elementary schools located in Pittsburgh, PA, and New York City, NY.
Prior to her illness, Sister Noreen served as assistant moderator for the Marian Convent Guild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William (infant) and John, and two sisters, Bridget Agnes (infant) and Nora.
She is survived by two sisters, Anne Gallagher of New York, NY, and Julia Clausen of Toms River, NJ, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 10 with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the IHM Generalate Chapel in Scranton, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Monday afternoon or evening.
