Sister M. Corona McDonald, IHM, Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Saturday, June 30, 1979, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on September 10, 1902 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and given the name Annie. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Lenahan McDonald. She entered the Congregation on October 19, 1921, received the religious habit on December 29, 1921, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1923.
Sister Corona served as a teacher at the following schools: Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY; St. Peter of Alcantara School in Port Washington, NY; St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA; St. Leo School in Ashley, PA; St. Paul School in Edgewood, RI; and St. Ambrose School in Bridgeport, CT. She also taught at schools located in Pittsburgh and Scranton, PA, and Baltimore, MD.
She is survived by an aunt, Mrs. John J. Green of Wilkes-Barre, PA, and several cousins.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 3, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call Monday afternoon and evening at the Marian Convent.
