Sister M. Michaela Mollica, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, May 18, 2003, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on April 3, 1914 in Susquehanna Depot, PA, and given the name Lena Mary. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Liberata Tomassi Mollica. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1933, made temporary profession of her vows on August 2, 1935, and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1938.
Sister Michaela served in various capacities, including supervisor, in the business office at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA, from 1935 to 1998.
From 1998 until the time of her death, Sister Michaela was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree in science from Marywood College.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter, and a sister, Louise Mollica.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Parrillo of Hallstead, PA, and Anna Trapanese of Denver, CO; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Wednesday, between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
