Sister M. Laurentia Flannery, IHM

November 19, 1880 – May 28, 1939

Sister M. Laurentia Flannery, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, May 28, 1939, at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Convent in Forest Hills, NY.

She was born on November 19, 1880 in Laflin, PA, and given the name Honora (Anna). She was the daughter of the late Michael and Ellen Armstrong Flannery. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1914, received the religious habit on July 6, 1915, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1917.

Sister Laurentia served as a domestic at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA; St. Mary’s Convent in Manhasset, NY; St. Mary of the Mount Convent in Pittsburgh, PA; and Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Convent in Forest Hills, NY.

She is survived by a brother, Patrick, and three sisters, Catherine, Mary, and Alice, all of Lafflin, PA.

The funeral will be Thursday, June 1 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow. Friends may call on Wednesday at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
