Sister M. Donatus Lynch, IHM

Sister M. Donatus Lynch, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, March 6, 1967, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.
She was born on April 10, 1907 in Syracuse, NY, and given the name Catherine. She was the daughter of Catherine Cavanagh Lynch and the late Edward James Lynch. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1924, received the religious habit on December 29, 1924, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1926.
Sister Donatus served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Leo School in Ashley, PA; St. Patrick School in Scranton, PA; St. Joseph School in Williamsport, PA; St. Raymond School in Lynbrook, PA; St. Paul School in Scranton, PA; and St. Rose School in Carbondale, PA.
Sister also served as principal and superior at the following schools: St. Patrick School in Oneida, NY, from 1950 to 1956; and St. Rita School in Dundalk, MD, from 1956 to 1962.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward James, Jr., and John A.
In addition to her mother, Catherine Lynch of Syracuse, NY, she is also survived by a brother, Francis J. of Casanovia, NY, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent, Scranton, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Marian Convent.
