Sister M. Delphina Healey, IHM

Sister M. Delphina Healey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, February 5, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on February 9, 1882 in Dunmore, PA, and given the name Agnes. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Loftus Healey. She entered the IHM Congregation on July 2, 1904, received the religious habit on December 8, 1906, and made profession of her vows on December 21, 1908.
Sister Delphina served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Paul Elementary School in Scranton, PA; St. Mary of the Mount Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Justin Elementary School in Pittsburgh, PA; Most Holy Rosary Elementary School in Syracuse, NY; and St. Ann Elementary School in Scranton, PA. She served as superior at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Convent in Rocky Mount, NC.
From 1944 until the time of her death, Sister served as principal and superior at St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Martin and Reverend William Anthony, and a sister, Sister Mary Perpetua, CSJ.
She is surivived by two sisters, Sister M. Theodora, IHM, of Scranton, PA, and Margaret McAloon of Syracuse, NY, and a niece.
The funeral will be Wednesday, February 8 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Church Street in Archbald, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Convent, Archbald.
