Sister M. Consilia Godfrey, IHM

Sister M. Consilia Godfrey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, November 25, 1934, at the Goldsboro Hospital in Goldsboro, NC.
She as born on March 18, 1907 in Jessup, PA, and given the name Veronica. She was the daughter of Mary Ellen Currant Godfrey and the late Patrick F. Godfrey. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1926, received the religious habit on August 15, 1926, and made profession of her vows on August 15, 1928.
Sister Consilia served as a music teacher at the following schools: Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Lock Haven, PA; St. Mary Elementary School in Hollidaysburg, PA; and St. Mary Elementary School in Goldsboro, NC, from 1933 until the time of her death.
In addition to her mother, she is also survived by two brothers, Paul J. and John F.
A Requiem High Mass was celebrated on Monday, November 26, at St. Mary’s Church in Goldsboro, by Reverend Cronelius E. Murphy, dean of the North Carolina Apostolate. Friends may call at the St. Mary’s Convent on North William Street, Goldsboro, on Sunday afternoon and evening. Locally, the funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 28 at 9:30 am in the Marywood College Chapel in Scranton, PA. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA. Friends may call on Tuesday at Marywood College.
