Sister M. Clarita Sharkey, IHM

Sister M. Clarita Sharkey, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on February 28, 1941, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on February 18, 1885 in Port Griffith, PA, and given the name Margaret D. She was the daughter of the late John and Ann Burke Sharkey. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1913, received the religious habit on December 30, 1913, and made profession of her vows on December 30, 1915.
Sister Clarita served as a teacher at the following schools: Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Altoona, PA; Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, NY; St. Patrick School in Oneida, NY; St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Joseph School in Danville, PA; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY; and Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary School in New York, NY.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph.
She is survived by two brothers, Dr. John, of Philadelphia, PA, and Attorney James A., of Washington, DC; and a sister, Mrs. Raymond Jeffrey, of Port Griffith, PA.
The funeral will be Monday, March 3, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
