Sister M. Clarence McHale, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died Friday, June 17, 1983, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.

She was born on April 11, 1898 in Dunmore, PA, and and given the name Marguerite. She was the daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret Langan McHale. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1918, received the religious habit August 5, 1918, and made profession of her vows on August 2, 1920.

Sister Clarence served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary-John School in Cresson, PA; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; and St. Mary Help of Christians Elementary School in West Pittston, PA. She also taught at schools located in Pittsburgh and Williamsport, PA.

From 1970 until the time the time of her death, Sister Clarence served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Martin, Harry Patrick, John and William Thomas; and five sisters, Anna Gildea, Mary Veronica McDonnell, Agnes McHale, Frances McHale, and Gertrude Catherine Manning.

She is survived by a sister, Ruth Turner of Chicago, IL; and several nieces and nephews, including Reverend Raymond McHale of St. Louis, MO.

The funeral will be Monday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent Sunday afternoon or evening.
