Sister M. Christina Scanlon, IHM

Sister M. Christina Scanlon, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Sunday, September 15, 1935, at the Reading Hospital in West Reading, PA.
She was born on October 15, 1906 in Pittsburgh, PA, and given the name Mary Regina. She was the daughter of Sarah Coyne Scanlon and the late Michael Scanlon. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1926, received the religious habit on December 29, 1926, and made profession of her vows on January 2, 1929.
Sister Christina served as a teacher at the following schools: Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA; St. Paul High School in Scranton, PA; St. Patrick High School in White Haven, PA; and St. John the Evangelist High School in Pittston, PA.
In addition to her mother, she is also survived by two brothers, James and Eugene, and two sisters, Rose and Anne Scanlon, all of Pittsburgh, PA.
The funeral will be Wednesday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Church, Pittston. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Pittston, PA.
Note: Sister succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred on September 8, 1935, in Strausstown, Berks County, PA.
