Sister M. Bonaventure Nailer, IHM

June 14, 1869 – July 27, 1903

Sister M. Bonaventure Nailer, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, July 27, 1903, at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Scranton, PA.

She was born on June 14, 1869 in Archbald, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of William and Bridget McHale Nailer. She entered the IHM Congregation on December 7, 1894, received the religious habit on July 1, 1895, and made profession of her vows on July 24, 1897.

Sister Bonaventure served as a teacher at Laurel Hill Academy in Susquehanna, PA.

She is survived by two brothers, John Joseph and Thomas; seven sisters, Anna Shea, Ellen Nailer, Agnes McNulty, Lucy Muir, Elizabeth Cawley, Veronica Dougher, and Catherine Gearhart; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday, July 29, at Mount Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Scranton, with interment to follow at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, PA.

Note: there is a discrepancy in our records as to the year of Mary Nailer’s birth, our register shows 1869 and the baptismal certificate shows 1868. We also have a discrepancy in the spelling of Sister’s last name, our records show Nailer and Nailor along with Naylor.
