Sister M. Antonita Regan, IHM

Sister M. Antonita Regan, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Tuesday, August 1, 1978, at the Marian Covent in Scranton, PA.

She born on January 5, 1924 in Scranton, PA, and was given the name Ann. She was the daughter of Vera Wade Regan and the late Edward J. Regan. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1941, received the religious habit on May 8, 1942, and made profession of her vows on May 8, 1944.

Sister Antonita taught at the following schools: St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY, from 1944 to 1946; St. Mary of the Mount School in Pittsburgh, from 1946 to 1951; Mother of Mercy School in Washington, NC, from 1951 to 1953; St. Rosalia School in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1953 to 1957; St. Michael’s Industrial School in Hoban Heights, PA, from 1957 to 1964 and 1972 to 1974; St. Leo School in Ashley, PA, from 1964 to 1967; Monsignor McHugh School in Cresco, PA, from 1967 to 1968; St. Clare Elementary School in Scranton, PA,from 1968 to 1969; St. Paul School in Scranton, PA, from 1969 to 1972; Nativity of Our Lord Elementary School in Scranton, PA, from 1974 to 1976; and Bishop O’Hara High School in Dunmore, PA, from 1977 to 1978.

At the time of her death, Sister Antonita was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Edward.

She is survived by cousins.

The funeral will be Friday, August 4, at 9:30 a.m. at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Wednesday and Thursday.
