Sister M. Angelisse Boyce, IHM

May 29, 1925 – September 4, 1999

Sister M. Angelisse Boyce, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Saturday, September 4, 1999 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

She was born on May 29, 1925 in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth McCaffrey Boyce. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1948, made temporary profession of her vows on May 9, 1951, and final profession of her vows on August 2, 1954.

Sister Angelisse served as a teacher at the following schools: Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in Forest Hills NY, from 1951 to 1954; West Central Catholic High School in Kingston, PA, from 1954 to 1969; Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg, PA, from 1969 to 1971; and Sacred Heart High School in Carbondale, PA, from 1971 to 1979.

Sister Angelisse also served as the librarian at the following schools: West Central Catholic High School in Kingston, PA, from 1954 to 1969; Pocono Central High School in Cresco, PA, from 1979 to 1987; and Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg, PA, from 1987 to 1997.

From 1997 until the time of her death, she served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Marywood College.

She is survived by a sister, Elizabeth McAndrew, Colonia, NJ; a niece, Catherine Deptula, Linden, NJ; and two nephews, Peter McAndrew, East Bangor, PA, and Lawrence McAndrew, Colonia, NJ.

The funeral will be Thursday, September 9 at 10:30 a.m.with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Wednesday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
