Sister M. Aline Farrell, IHM

Sister M. Aline Farrell, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at the Marian Convent, in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on May 19, 1909 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and given the name Anna. She was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Sarah Connerton Farrell. She entered the IHM Congregation on February 2, 1933, made temporary profession of her vows on August 2, 1935, and final profession of her vows on August 19, 1938.
Sister Aline served as a teacher at a teacher at the following schools: Epiphany Elementary School in Sayre, PA, from 1935 to 1936; St. Basil Elementary School in Dushore, PA, from 1936 to 1942; and St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA, from 1976 to 1990; St. Joseph Elementary School in Danville, PA; St. Thomas Elementary School in Providence, RI; Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY; and St. Thomas Elementary School in Gresham, OR.
Sister Aline also served the receptionist at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA, from 1990 to 1999.
From 1999 until the time of her death, Sister Aline served a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Marywood College.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna and Natalie Mertens, and two brothers, Edward and Joseph.
She is survived by a sister, Grace Gerrity of Scranton, PA, three nephews, Joseph Gerrity of Scranton, PA, Donald Gerrity of Kenneth Square, PA, Martin Gerrity of Olyphant, PA, two nieces, Mary Ellen McGinley and Kathleen Trump, both of Allentown, PA, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral will be Friday, October 19 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Thursday after 2:00 p.m.
