Sister M. Agathina Murray, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Tuesday, September 7, 1954, at St. Agnes Place in Elmhurst, PA.
She was born on November 28, 1888 in Carbondale, PA, and given the name Mary. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia McDonnell Murray. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 15, 1906, received the religious habit on December 27, 1906, and made profession of her vows on April 13, 1909.
Sister Agathina served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick School in Oneida, NY; St. Mary’s School in Manhasset, NY; St. Dominic School in Oyster Bay, NY: St. Mary of the Mount School in Pittsburgh, PA; St. Paul School in Scranton, PA; and Nativity of Our Lord School in Scranton, PA.
She is survived by a sister, Irene Malone of Carbondale, PA, and several nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday, September 9, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery in Moscow, PA.
