Sister M. Adelaide O’Boyle, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, April 8, 1932, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Carbondale, PA.
She was born on August 4, 1872 in Olyphant, PA, and given the name Elizabeth. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Hart O’Boyle. She entered the IHM Congregation on May 31, 1893, received the religious habit on December 28, 1893, and made profession of her vows on April 9, 1896.
Sister Adelaide served as a teacher at St. Mary Elementary School in Hollidaysburg, PA, for fifteen years; and St. John Elementary School in Pittston, PA, for about twenty years.
She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. John J. O’Connor of Scranton, PA, Mrs. J.M. Dunn of Pottsville, PA, Mrs. Joseph B. Whalen of Norriston, PA, and Mrs. Martin McGuire of Dunmore, PA; a brother, Joseph of Scranton, PA; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday, April 11, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church in Moscow, PA, followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow.
