Sister Helen Joseph McGrath, IHM

Sister Helen Joseph McGrath, IHM, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Thursday, April 28, 1932, at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
She was born on January 31, 1907 in New York City, NY, and given the name Anna Mary. She was the daughter of Dennis and Mary Leyhan McGrath. She entered the IHM Congregation on August 14, 1924, received the religious habit on December 29, 1927, and made profession of her vows on December 27, 1929.
Sister Helen Joseph served as teacher at Marywood College in Scranton, PA; and St. Mary of the Mount School in Pittsburgh, PA.
From 1930 until the time of her death, Sister served as a teacher at St. John the Evangelist School in Pittston, PA.
In addition to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McGrath of New York City, NY, she is also survived by a brother.
The funeral will be Saturday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittson, with interment to follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Pittston, PA.
