Sister Kathleen Kelley, IHM

Sister Kathleen Kelley, IHM (formerly known as Sister M. Elizabetta) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Monday, August 2, 2004, at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA.
She was born on January 7, 1916, in Syracuse, NY, and was the daughter of the late William C. and Elizabeth O’Brien Kelley. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 7, 1934, made temporary profession of her vows on May 3, 1937, and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1940.
Sister Kathleen served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Mary Elementary School in Avoca, PA, from 1937 to 1948; St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary School in Archbald, PA, from 1957 to 1960; St. Raymond School in East Rockaway, NY; St. Matthew Elementary School in Wilmington, DE; Little Flower School in Bethesda, MD; St. Thomas School in Providence, RI; and St. Edward Elementary School in Twin Falls, ID.
Sister also served as the coordinator of volunteers at St. Joseph Hospital in Carbondale, PA, from 1980 to 1984; support services at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, from 1974 to 1980; director of transportation services at the Marian Convent in Scranton, PA, from 1984 to 2000; and receptionist at the IHM Center in Scranton, PA, from 2000 to 2002.
From 2002 until the time of her death, Sister Kathleen served as a prayer minister at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Marywood College.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Frank W. and Robert V., and two sisters, Margaret Lundquest and Dorothy Madden.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Beeler, Manlius, NY, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be on Thursday, August 5, at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent followed by interment at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call on Wednesday afternoon or evening at the Marian Convent.
