Sister Ann Helene Coyne, IHM

Sister Ann Helene Coyne, IHM, (formerly known as Sister M. Jeanette) of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary died on Friday, March 23, 2001 at the Marian Convent in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
She was born on December 21, 1915 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Anna O’Malley Coyne. She entered the IHM Congregation on September 8, 1933, made temporary profession of her vows on April 30, 1936, and final profession of her vows on August 1, 1939.
Sister Ann Helene served as a teacher at the following schools: Our Lady of Peace Elementary School in Clark’s Green, PA; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Elementary School in Altoona, PA; St. Mary School in Patton, PA; St. Bernard Elementary School in Hastings, PA; All Saints Elementary School in Masontown, PA; St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD; St. Thomas Elementary School in Providence, RI; Holy Trinity Elementary School in Poughkeepsie, NY; St. Dominic Elementary School in Oyster Bay, NY; as well as at elementary schools located in Pittsburgh, PA.
Sister Ann Helene also served as the administrator at the Marian Convent, from 1985 to 1988.
Sister Ann Helene served as a prayer minister in convents located in Pittsburgh, and at the Marian Convent.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, and a Master of Arts degree in elementary education, both from Marywood College.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Rita, and three brothers, John, Thomas and Patrick.
She is survived by two sisters, Mary Bametzrieder of Pittsburgh, PA, and Sister Eugene Coyne, IHM of Scranton, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at the Marian Convent, followed by interment at St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow. Friends may call at the Marian Convent on Monday between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
