The Season of Creation 2026

The Season of Creation 2026 provides an opportunity to refresh our profound respect and gratitude for all of creation through celebration, action, and commitment together. Celebrated annually from September 1 to October 4—the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi—”this ecumenical season mobilizes churches, faith-based organizations, and communities worldwide to respond to the ecological crisis. Every act of care for creation becomes part of a global stream of hope.”

Some ways we can encourage people to participate in the Season of Creation:

• Pray: World Day of Prayer for Creation, September 1, with your community
• Enjoy: this season and bask in the beauty around you praising and thanking God daily.
• Advocate: for Issues in Our Local Area in light of Gospel values
• PRAY AND WORSHIP organize liturgies focused on creation care
• HIGHLIGHT ecosystem degradation and biodiversity loss and advocate for change
• STUDY the intersection of poverty and environmental vulnerability and act on behalf of the poor in some way
• ACT as a community-Partner with local organizations for impact on water safety like PFAS (“forever chemicals”), microplastics that contaminate our drinking water

By embracing both faith and action, communities around the world are called to care for creation and to help create a more just, sustainable, and life-giving future for all. May we, IHM Sisters, be part of this worthy movement in as many ways as possible. The preservation of our beautiful but wounded earth depends on the care and action of all people working, praying and loving our earth. Let us participate wholeheartedly in this 2026 Season of Creation.
