August EarthCare Update
Read about the EarthCare Committee's recent visit at the Flannery home.
One of many blessings our EarthCARE committee receives is a profound connection to those whose dream for creation mirrors and deepens ours. How fortunate we are that Carolyn and Pat Flannery love and cherish what we love and cherish in a partnership that has been nurtured over the years.
There are both inspiring and delicious elements of this partnership, most recently in an invitation to the Flannery home on Archbald Mountain. EarthCARE members enjoyed a feast for the senses in the gracious hospitality of Carolyn and Pat and their home, surrounded by an exquisite panorama of native species. Five flavors of Manning’s ice cream beckoned to us, as did master baker Carolyn’s treats of homemade cookies, cakes, and cobbler.
There was nourishment for our hearts, as well. Carolyn explained the fascinating process involved in beekeeping and treated us to honey from her own hives. Pat pointed out a baby Eastern Bluebird who had not yet joined its siblings on their first flight and introduced us to his painted turtle friends in the pond adjacent to their property. In both Pat and Carolyn, we noted a contemplative awe and a tender caring for our precious neighbors that inspires our work and reflects the mission of EarthCARE. How deeply grateful we are to walk beside them and to share their dream for all creation.
