May IHM EarthCare Update

Happy Mother’s Day to mothers of every species!

In the United States, Mother’s Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May. Throughout the world, a day to honor mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures is observed on varying dates, but the core element is a remembrance of those who have given birth or who have raised, nurtured, or supported the young and not so young through a life given over in love and sacrifice.

Although our neighbors in the animal kin-dom don’t have Mother’s Day listed on their calendars, our EarthCARE committee is delighted to be among the witnesses of animal mothers and their babies here on our IHM land, including a doe and fawn shortly after birth. Every single day, these Mamas care for their offspring with a love that is tender and fiercely protective. As we pledge to safeguard them, we are grateful to Donna Korba and Jan Novotka for capturing these precious images of tender lives right outside our windows at the IHM Center.

Our EarthCARE Committee wishes a Happy Mother’s Day to mothers of every species!
