Sister Giovana Fuentes Bendivez, IHM, reached a profound spiritual milestone on November 15, 2025, professing perpetual vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience as a Sister, Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The sacred ceremony took place during a Eucharistic celebration at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton. A native of Arequipa, Peru, Sister Giovana’s journey of faith and service began in her homeland, where she served with the Sisters of IHM in Sicuani before formally joining the community in 2016. Her unique background as a trained psychologist now profoundly enriches her vital work with the Association of Latin American Missionary Sisters (AHLMA). Headquartered in San Antonio, TX, AHLMA is a crucial network dedicated to supporting and empowering Latina sisters in their diverse ministries for the Church and society across the United States. Sister Giovana’s perpetual vows represent not only a deeply personal commitment to God but also a powerful dedication to the global Church, particularly in her tireless efforts to uplift and support her fellow sisters as they serve those most in need.
