Thousands of patients and residents in Lackawanna County hospitals, nursing homes and personal care facilities received a little Irish blessings on St. Patrick’s Day thanks to the Shamrock Heart Foundation of Lackawanna County. Carrying on a tradition that began in 1994, the foundation delivered over 3,500 green carnation corsages and boutonnieres to patients and residents in 46 care facilities. More than 130 volunteers gathered to assemble and package the floral decorations. Each flower was delivered with a “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” greeting card with the message, “May God Bless You and Your Loved Ones Today and All of Your Days,” IHM sisters at Our Lady of Peace Residence were the happy recipients of the corsages at mass on Sunday, March 17.
