Honorees

Msgr. John W. Jordan

Monsignor John W. Jordan, a West Pittston native and lifelong advocate for Catholic education, was ordained in 1969 and went on to earn advanced degrees in education and administration. He served as principal of three diocesan high schools and later as Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Scranton, earning national recognition for his innovative leadership. His work included directing a national Catholic education initiative and leading the NativityMiguel Foundation to support inner-city schools. Returning to the Diocese in 2010, he became Pastor of Saint Eulalia’s and with the IHM Sisters, he helped found the NativityMiguel School of Scranton, continuing his mission to serve students in need—a commitment recognized with the “IHM Spirit” award.

Dr. Kathleen P. Munley

Kathleen P. Munley, Ph.D., C.M.F.C., is a retired History professor from Marywood University, where she served nearly 50 years and helped establish the pre-law and paralegal programs. A native of Carbondale, PA, she was married to the late Judge James M. Munley and is the mother of two daughters. She earned degrees from Marywood College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Lehigh University. Dr. Munley has published widely, presented internationally, and served on several community boards, exemplifying a lifelong dedication to education, service, and the “IHM Spirit.”
